25th Anniversary Opening Doors to Industry

Opening Doors to Industry

Our students don’t have to make a name for themselves after graduation. We introduce them to industry leaders long before that.

28 Key Executives

Leaders from top companies — from Amazon Game Studios to Goldman Sachs — served as judges at this year’s showcase.

Every Poole College student has the opportunity to engage with top companies in the Research Triangle and beyond. But it’s not just through internships: We also welcome many of those companies to Poole College to show them how students are tackling their business challenges.

Our annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase invites recruiters and the public to take a firsthand look at how Poole College students deliver on practicum and other applied learning projects. And it gives those students — 37 undergraduate teams and 25 graduate teams in 2017 — the chance to put their innovative solutions in front of industry executives, many of them NC State alumni.

100+ Companies

At our bi-annual career fair, more than 1,500 students get direct access to some of the nation’s leading employers.

Most projects in the showcase are sponsored by industry. This year, Bayer CropScience tasked teams with creating an algorithm that would streamline the company’s vendor master database. John Deere sought a cost-comparison tool for its commercial mowers. And NC RIoT challenged students to build a better bicycle — or at least a product that would improve cyclists’ safety.

“Poole College prides itself on making sure our students have the opportunity to engage with industry and get their hands dirty with real, applied problems,” says Tamah Morant, associate dean of undergraduate programs. “This showcase is the culmination of those efforts.”
